Country Kitchen Designs Examples
Published on May 15th, 2020.
A country kitchen design means having a relaxed and friendly kitchen space with some antique or reproduction furniture where everyone can gather to enjoy wonderful meals and good conversation. Not just a place to prepare meals, the kitchen can be the most popular room in your home.
Materials – with a country kitchen design, use natural materials with comfortable rustic furnishings that are warm and welcoming. Creating unique country kitchens means using open shelves and cupboards for displaying antique or reproduction plates and dinnerware, earthenware, baskets and glass jars. Pots should be made of copper, cast iron, stoneware or even stainless steel to maintain the country look.
Materials for the cabinets would include wood materials with a natural, rough or distressed finish to add to the country style. Cabinets built of painted, distressed or naturally-finished wood can be beautiful when used in country kitchen design.
Floor and countertop materials used are important elements to maintain the rustic country look. Use ceramic tiles, hand-painted tiles, slate, stone or marble for the countertop. Popular flooring material choices could be terra cotta tiles, brick, stone and wood.
Colors – having a country look means using warm earthy colors for this style of home decor. The use of neutral colors like bone or white works well. You can also select red barn, blues and greens that will be appropriate colors for country home decor. Select plain colors for coverings for countertop materials if laminates will be used. Country home decorating can also incorporate stenciling and wallpaper. Stenciling around windows and in areas where walls and ceiling meet can add to the rustic look.
Kitchen Islands – a kitchen island is an essential part of a desirable kitchen according to most homebuyers. Having a kitchen island in your country kitchen design adds value to your home. The kitchen island reminds us of long ago when the kitchen island in farmhouses was where the food prep work was done. With limited space, choose a rolling butcher block that is movable and can be wheeled around as needed.
Furniture – use some antiques or reproductions if you have the space in your kitchen. Do not be concerned if the antiques have chips and scratches. Imperfections will add to the charm and rustic look in the country kitchen design.
Before actually starting to do the work, keep your ideas and pictures you like in a notebook. The planning stage is important and have fun going through books and magazines and searching online for country kitchen examples and ideas that you like. Well-designed unique country kitchens will make the home more valuable. Even if you will not be selling your home, a country kitchen design that reflects your personal style will provide you a very special place to be enjoyed for many years to come.

Effective Country Kitchen Design
Published on May 15th, 2020.
Kitchens figure amongst the important rooms of the entire house. Recently, a lot of attention is being paid to their presentation and decoration. This is because the concept of a kitchen being just an interior-cooking place has undergone transformation. Today, kitchens attract architects to provide them with the challenge of designing and decorating each kitchen uniquely. The designs of a kitchen can be done in numerous ways depending upon the desired style, preferable location, available area, and specific budget. The basic elements of the kitchen are to attribute the right kind of items to their appropriate places.
A country kitchen differs from a regular kitchen on the grounds of its plumbing fixtures, ventilations, dishwashers, flooring, and refrigeration. The peculiarity of country kitchens is that all its cabinets and counters are made of wood to give an authentic atmosphere. Two types of wood are used to make the furniture, namely Cedar wood and Oak wood. Another specialty about these kitchens is their in-house plant life and window dressing styles. Flowers such as daises and posies provide freshness to the kitchen. The window-dressing, if done in bright colors such as in red, yellow, or blue, illuminates the entire surrounding.
The country kitchen tables are traditionally round or oval, having matching wooden chairs that can be cushioned with pillows to complement the window dressings. The color combination of the furniture, window dressing, and other modern appliances should be harmonious. To give the kitchen a touch of inimitable charm, accessories such as old model car candleholders, old aluminum serving trays, wooden clocks, and variety of mug collections can be used. To make the bona fide atmosphere complete, country kitchen floors can be made of hardwood floor paneling for the required rustic look.
Country Kitchens can be designed according to the needs of the family members and their tastes. Sometimes professionals are hired to provide expertise on the designing and setting of the entire kitchen.

What color appliances should i use?
Published on August 4th, 2010.
My kitchen is country cottage style (or that’s the look I am goin for). Have cream off white cabinets with a granite look alike counter top in browns and blacks. Floor is cream color tile. Backsplash is terra cotta tile. Would white or black appliances look best. With the white, they would kind of blend into the cabinetry more, with black they would stand out more and provide more contrast. Which would look better? Can’t afford stainless.

GOOD ESSAY, FEEDBACK PLEASE?
Published on August 2nd, 2010.
Within a person’s life, there are numerous responsibilities and goals the person wants to attain. These responsibilities and goals are called “rocks”. These rocks can range from the most important things in our life to a mere obligation you accomplish on a regular basis. In my life I have very many big, small and medium “rocks” to accomplish. My big rocks are education, family and friends, and the need to make a difference in the world.
Education is a big rock in my life because as an aspiring lawyer, I want to be successful. The key to success is education and self-power. Education is so important to me because it is such a powerful form of knowledge gain. It helps me build strong opinions and perspectives, it teaches me lessons that prepare me for the future, and it teaches me about the world around me. A goal I have set forth for myself is getting a scholarship to university. My dream is to go to Yale University in New Haven, U.S, because they have an absurd law program, rated number one for educational quality. From the first time I saw the school’s tall red-bricked tower with a tremendous silver clock, and the football sized field with its long soft-looking grass, I knew that’s where I want to be. I also like the idea of a big university because I like to study with other people and I don’t get distracted. It helps me develop speaking skills and prepare me so that I am twice as successful. Success is more important than people think; because I will one day need money to pay for food, shelter, clothes, health care and other financial needs. Success also helps you get more involved and make a difference.
After learning about the genocide going on in Darfur, Africa, I was determined to help the fight. Was the holocaust not painful enough? Did the world not suffer from enough hate and excruciation? Can you even imagine kids around 10 years of age so skinny you can see they’re bones carrying a baby and caring for it? Apparently the world hasn’t thought of that image. I quickly understood the harmful and distressed situation was not going to fix itself; I need to stick up for what I believe in. What I believe in does not include the Jewish religion, or that lottery tickets should be printed on 100% recycled paper, but it includes for say, the [RED] organization, and important charity causes such as cancer, poverty, Darfur, environment and orphanage needs. It is important to help make a difference because it makes our countries nicer to live in and people kinder and happier. Moreover, with the right path to success, I will have more power and connections to help. I hope one day I am able to help clean up communities and organize soup kitchens, and give shelter to the poor, but most importantly, to convince others to join in, bring their families and friends, and just have fun. Having family and friends is a personal big rock, and a must-have in Karin’s survival guide.
The third big rock in my life is my family and friends. This big rock is very important to me, and I will always cherish it. My family and friends are like the star to my burst. Without them, I wouldn’t be a very happy person. I am so grateful to even have these people in my life, as many do not, and even more grateful they care about me too. My friends and relatives set examples for me and footprints to follow in, and are amazing role models. For example, I would love to clone Vanessa’s social skills, but Farnaz’s determination and perseverance. I love Samantha’s funny and witty attitude towards everything, and wish to replicate Jasmin’s cool and collected sense of style. I am grateful to have my friends set models for me, and that my family is there to give me advice and help me move on in life. They are wonderful in supporting me, both financially and emotionally. It is such an important thing to have, and I care about my relationships very much.
I hope in 10 years you will see me, and I would be able to tell you about my many accomplishments, and how I left a positive mark on our planet earth, succeeded at university, and kept strong relationships with family and friends. I thank the writer of the story “The big rocks of life” and hope one day, I will have built a strong education and have the self-knowledge to write such a powerful piece. It was really touching.
Just in reply to Aki F’s response:
I’m in grade 8, so 12 years old.
I’m not exactly sure what the hook is what what uniform 3 is, so if you could explain that would be nice. Also, I know it’s pretty long and not arguing anything, but we were forced to write about this topic, so I didn’t have much of a say in this, and we had to have 3 main and 3 supporting points . So, it would be really helpful if you told me what uniform 3 is and what a hook is. THANKS.

what happens if the mother and father's parenting styles are way different then each other?
Published on August 1st, 2010.
My fiance and i have a 9 month old boy. tonight i was trying to clean up the kitchen and asked my fiance to hold the baby for like 15 min. so i could finish up. he started fussy so hubby asks if i had a bottle made. i said no b/c i literally had just picked him up out of the high chair and handed him to his dad. he wasn’t hungry in the slightest.
well la la la i cleaned the kitchen and went to the bedroom and there was a fresh bottle on the end table. hunter was awake screaming and his dad was rocking him. i took him b/c he wanted to go to sleep on me (usually does) and asked why he made him a bottle when he knew the baby wasn’t hungry and i specifically told him not to. his response was "its my son and i will do as i please. if i think he needs a bottle then he needs one." and i was like whoa.
for 1 thing, i am trying to break my sons bottle for bed habit for two reasons. 1.b/c of the whole teeth rotting issue. and two because i am wanting him to stat sleeping independently and if he has a bottle then he can’t do that (dependent on the bottle at the very least)
i told my fiance this and he said "yeah you and your hippie parenting ways. you think everything causes everything and everything is ridiculous and unnecessary." he refused to listen to the facts and said "i remember having a bottle in pre school. he doesn’t need to be broke of the bottle by one." (something else i am hoping to do) and we got to talking about potty training and i said i wanted to start as soon as we thought hunter was ready. and he said "this isn’t a 3rd world country. we can afford diapers and when he grows out of the last diaper size then we can potty train." i was mortified and i said r u serious? he said "yea i remember my mom changing my diaper."
greg (hubby) says that we don’t have any timelines to follow and were not going to fight hunter if he wants to keep bottles for years or diapers for years.
i am totally against that way of thinking and am just wondering what happens when 2 parents disagree on parenting?
i HAVE tried talking and reaching a compromise. greg says that he’s not going to kiss my a** and if i wanna act ridiculous then i can do all the parenting from now on b/c he’s def. NOT jumping on board with any of the stupid things i want to do. greg’s a very stubborn man and resists compromise in everything. i’m just afraid our son is going to suffer w/o consistency as he gets older.
i just hate it because if i try to calmly approach him, he gets rude, sometimes yells or just flat out ignores me. he will sit there with his eyes shut or turn over and fall asleep while im talking. i cannot get anything through to him

Kitchen design problem – any help?
Published on July 31st, 2010.
So we just bought this house and I’m already finding problems – I’m a woman, so go figure…
My kitchen has dark hardwood floors, dark wood cabinetry, black granite countertops, and black appliances. How on Earth am I going to make this into my dream kitchen when there are no colors that will compliment dark brown AND black?! I hate green, orange would be "not me", and yellow seems too country… I’m thinking about a backsplash, but what color(s)? What color for the walls? Am I stuck with WHITE as my only choice??? Thanks for ANY help you can provide!!
